Oak Framed House, Betchworth

James Ogilvie Traditional Oak Buildings was originally contracted simply to supply an oak frame but ended up doing very much more, including fitting the kitchen.
The clients, who were undertaking an extensive conversion of their original single storey bungalow into an impressive two storey house, had a relatively undefined design and wanted to maintain maximum flexibility. As the work progressed we were increasingly asked for our advice on the design and by working closely with the clients to understand their ideas we were able to interpret these into just the right solutions.
As with so many aspects of oak framing, it is a question of combining creative ideas with practical solutions. In this case the client had the ideas and we were delighted to be able to help them realise them. In fact, the client was so pleased we ended up not only fitting the frame but also taking on a lot of the internal and external finishing. We even fitted the handmade kitchens and a grand, bespoke staircase.
